Do this at the space between the second and third uprights to the right of the outside rim overlap. Pull it up and over the top of the basket and insert it between the outside of the basket and the outside rim. Leave a 4” tail hanging down on the outside of the basket. See DIAGRAM 12. 11 ATTACHING THE RIM: 1. Take one of the ¾” pieces that will be for the inside rim and cut off the corners, making the piece have a flat point on the end. Place this point on the inside of the basket at the right corner and clip it on the basket making sure that it does not go below the last row of weaving.

Twine 2 rows with # 2 round by folding a long piece in half (actually a little off center). Each half becomes a “weaver”. Take the top weaver behind the next stake. Then take the other weaver behind the next stake, etc. The twining will serve as the “false rim”. Point all the stakes, rewet them at the twining line and bend them to the inside, pushing them behind a couple of rows of weaving. See DIAGRAM 7. 5 8 9 1 2 6 8 9 7 RIMS: on fr Attach the leather strap on the center 3/8” stake on each side.

2. You may need to splice a piece in to complete the row of curls. Splice on an under overlapping the pieces making a double thickness. Clip the splice to hold it securely until you get the next row of weaving in above it. 3. When you get to the end of the row of curls, cut and hide the end of the piece behind the under where you started. This will make a double thickness here. REMOVE FROM MOLD: 1. Twist the push-pins while removing from mold and then pull the basket off the mold. 2. All uprights on the inside of the basket are folded over to the outside and then cut just above the bottom of the last row of weaving.
