Help Close State Centers for Persons with Developmental Disabilities

Please contact your state representative and ask them to sign on as a cosponsor to Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre) memo that requires Department of Human Services (DHS) to develop a plan to close state centers by January 1, 2023. Do you know that Pennsylvania has 5 State Centers for Individuals with Intellectual & developmental disabilities? Thankfully there is a plan in place to close the Hamburg State Center, relocating 80 individuals into the community by 2018/19. However that means our state still has 4 State Centers (Like Pennhurst) in existence housing approximately 800+-individuals! This must end! Open Position: Guardian

Guardian This position performs a variety of guardian functions and activities, strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, take initiative, must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously meeting required deadlines.  College degree preferred, but not necessary; knowledge of Medical Assistance, previous Guardianship experience and/or Certification a plus.  Current FBI, Criminal History and Child Abuse clearances will be required to be presented at time hired. Open Position – Supports Coordinator

Supports Coordinator:  Under the direction of the Supports Coordination Director.    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university  which is supplemented by at least 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or other related social sciences.  Must present a clean PA Criminal background check, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal Record Check at time of hire.   The position involves the location, coordination, and monitoring of needed services and supports for persons supported.  Assists participants in obtaining and coordinating needed waiver and other services.
