Hello everybody. Today my blog will be about two different activities I do after school and how the way I do them is different from a non-disabled person. They are many different activities at my school, such as sports and clubs. Recently I joined our school’s newspaper. The newspaper is called The Rampage, and it is run by the members of the club. This is my first time joining the newspaper. My assignment was to review the new movie Mr. Peabody and Sherman. The movie is about a time traveling dog and his adopted son. When I get done with the review for the school newspaper, with Mr. Scott’s permission, I will post it as a blog. Keep an eye out for it.
I go to a lot of movies, but it is sometimes hard to get into the movies. As I have previously stated, my family has a special-type of van to transport my wheelchair from point A to point B. When we get to where we are going there is a lift to get my chair out of the van. When we got to the Movie Tavern, we ordered our food. I had biscuits and gravy. The staff was very helpful.
Another activity I do after school is a club called Ram Buddies. Once a month, (plus two field trips), we meet to play board games and sometimes watch movies. Ram Buddies is a peer mentor program where others students help me and my friends play the games. We also eat a boatload of snacks, which means I’m not hungry for dinner. Each of the mentors does a lot of work. They just don’t plan this overnight. They have to meet ahead of time to plan what we are going to do. Ram Buddies would not be possible without all the adult helpers too. They work almost as hard as the mentors to make the meeting run smoothly. Mrs. Leslie is the teacher in charge of Ram Buddies. She does a very nice job.
See you next week.
