Chandler hard at work

Hello everybody, how are we all doing today? Today my blog will be about technology from the 1990s compared to now. Today we have many different types of technology at our disposal. I am going to compare and contrast the technology from the year I was born which 1996 to now in 2015. Let me tell you, one thing about the technology that was drastically different back then. We did not have iPhones or iPads or laptops, it was all desktop computers back then. That would make doing my homework very difficult because I cannot use a regular mouse as well as I can use a trackpad on the laptop. The program I use to write this blog every week is called Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It came out in the 1990s and it cost $9000, which is about as much as any good used car. Although a year after I was born, it dropped in price to $695. For a frame of reference that’s about as much as a 55 inch plasma television like the one you used to watch football on. Also in the 1990s, it would take me on a good day, one hour to program the software if I got it right out of the box. Today it takes me about 20 minutes to program it. Also, it only costs $100 which is as much as a good pair of headphones.

Down the road in 5, 10 or 20 years I think technology will look like computers built into the human brain. We wouldn’t even have to think, the computers would do it all for us. This would help children with CP in many different ways, it could help them communicate or function. Something I would like to see come out as a technological advancement is automatic house doors, so it could make it easier for me to get in and out of the house.

Before I sign off for the day, be on the lookout for a question related to this post posted on the “What if…” Facebook page. You can get the URL via my last blog. That’s about it. My name is Chandler and I hope to see you back here in the very near future.
