Chandler hard at work

Chandler hard at work

Hello everybody and welcome back. This week my blog will be about what I did over the summer.
I had a great summer; it was a lot of fun. For the first two weeks I didn’t do much. After the first two weeks, I went to the extended school year program at Variety Club. At Variety Club we go swimming every day, but first we have to do some academic work. Every day I would do reading and math. One of the most interesting things I learned about was the Terracotta Army. Just for fun, I am going to give you a couple of historical facts. The Terracotta Army was meant to protect pharaohs in tombs. The army was dug up by some farmers.

After we did some academics, we got to go to specials like art and music. The specials were a lot of fun, but the thing I enjoyed the most was swimming. Every day I would hold my breath for about 46 seconds. The first time I held my breath for more than 30 seconds the lifeguards were very scared. I had a great time in the pool. When I was not swimming or doing academics, I was teaching my classmates calendar skills. How it would work would be I would hold up two cards and they would have to pick the right answer. For example, I would ask them, is today Monday or Tuesday and then they would pick the right answer. Teaching my classmates was fun and challenging at the same time. I think teaching is not as easy as it looks and I appreciate the people that do it well every day. Unfortunately, at the end of the summer I had to get my wisdom teeth out and that was not fun even though I wasn’t in pain afterwards.

At the end of every blog I will give you a question to respond to. Please leave your answer as a comment on the blog. Here is your question for this week. Name one place you went over the summer? That is not your only question, since this is my first blog of the new school year I am desperate for topics. Could you please give me some topics that you would like me to cover this year? Thank you.

See you next week, Chandler 🙂
