Jason is a creative man who does not let anything hold him back. Although Jason’s eyesight has been significantly impacted by a cornea disorder, he loves to express himself through art. In 2021, Jason along with two friends, Tyler & Daniel and their moms, started Hearts to Paper.
Jason, Tyler, and Daniel create artwork, which is transformed into beautifully crafted items like note cards, gift bags, wine bags, reusable totes, and calendars. The friends participate in every step of the business—from production to packaging and delivery. These products are available online and occasionally at local farmers’ markets and events. All proceeds go directly to local nonprofit organizations that support Jason, his friends, and the wider IDD community, adding a layer of purpose and pride to their creations.
Jason’s Supports Coordinator from The Arc Alliance has been a crucial ally in helping Jason and his family navigate his support needs. With the guidance of his SC, Jason has a hybrid schedule that makes full use of his waiver funding, allowing him to thrive through a mix of structured activities: he participates in a day program, self-directed services, community-based programs, and even summer camps. This thoughtful schedule keeps Jason active, engaged, and motivated, making every week fulfilling and meaningful.
Through Hearts to Paper, Jason has found more than a creative outlet—he’s found a place of belonging, pride, and purpose. As he and his friends release new holiday and winter-themed designs, they’re excited to continue sharing their art with the community and making a difference, one handmade piece at a time.
