Matt’s life is nothing short of remarkable. Born as a micro preemie at just 24 weeks and weighing only 1.5 pounds, doctors warned his mother that he might never walk, talk, or even survive. But Matt’s family saw him as their “miracle baby,” and with fierce determination, he proved the odds wrong. As soon as he left the NICU, Matt began receiving early intervention services from The Arc Alliance, where he started building the skills that would carry him forward.
This year, Matt’s journey came full circle. Now 21 years old, he returned to The Arc Alliance through Perkiomen Valley High School’s Work Study program. Working with the organization that supported him from the very beginning has been meaningful for Matt, and he has embraced every moment. He shared that he loves “all the different people he’s met and works with, the variety of services provided by The Arc Alliance, and the different tasks he’s assigned to complete.” His colleagues are continually impressed with how quickly he completes his work, describing him as incredibly focused and efficient.
Beyond the office, Matt is all about fun and adventure. A huge Super Mario fan, he loves playing games on his Nintendo Switch and spending quality time with his dad playing sports. He has a great time at parties, weddings, and dances—anything where he can show off his dance moves! Cape May is a favorite destination for Matt, where he visits extended family, enjoys mini-golf (which he’s quite skilled at), and cruises around in a golf cart!
Matt’s resilience, positivity, and enthusiasm make him a valued member of The Arc Alliance and an inspiration to everyone who knows him. His story showcases the importance of early intervention and the impact of a community that believes in each child’s potential to thrive.
