Live Interview of Gary Alexander
Jill Zielinski, Director of Supports Coordination for The Arc Alliance Advocacy Services and host of The Arc Alliance Building Bridges in the Community, will be interviewing Gary Alexander, Secretary of the Department of Welfare (DPW) and Paul Stengle, CEO of The Arc Alliance on BCTV Comcast channel 13 or streaming online March 1 at 11am. Jill will be engaging the Secretary of the DPW and the CEO of The Arc Alliance on several key and challenging issues of concern for families and individuals affected by Intellectual and developmental disabilities and delays. Topics will range from the current cut of 88,000 children from Medical Assistance benefits to a 3.4% increase to state centers. This interview promises to be challenging and insightful.
Secretary of Public Welfare Gary D. Alexander oversees a department that provides services and supports to more than 2.1 million low-income, elderly and disabled Pennsylvanians. A Boston native, Alexander received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Northeastern University and his J.D. from Suffolk University School of Law, both in Boston. He is an ordained deacon in the Armenian Orthodox Church. Prior to being confirmed as DPW secretary, Alexander served as the Rhode Island Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The Arc Alliance, founded December 14, 1951, by eight concerned parents, is a leading proponent of the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. In the early years the agency was known as The Arc of Montgomery County. Since then, The Arc Alliance experienced continued growth and now covers Montgomery, Berks & Bucks Counties as well as parts of other surrounding counties. For over 60 years The Arc Alliance has been and continues to be one of the largest proponents of the rights of people with Intellectual and Developmental Delays and Disabilities in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
