“At 38 years old Jared is living his best life; thanks to all the help from The Arc Alliance he started Integrated Home Care Services. They take him on outings, to social events, and even have a family dinner together each week… My son is stubborn and strong, which helps him succeed.” -Jared Mother, Charlene

At 38 years old, Jared’s life is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of community support. Born with Down Syndrome, Jared faced early health complications, including surgery at six months old to address issues with his GI tract. Despite these challenges, Jared’s determination shone through as he achieved milestones like walking independently at age three and overcoming bathroom difficulties by age ten.

After graduating from Abington Senior High School in 2006, Jared found purpose and social interaction through DEC workshops until 2020 when they closed due to the pandemic. This sudden disruption left Jared struggling with isolation until his mother, Charlene, connected him with The Arc Alliance. Jared not only found support but also established Integrated Home Care Services. This endeavor has provided him with enriching activities, outings, and weekly family dinners, fostering a sense of belonging and fulfillment.

Today, Jared thrives in his community, supported by a network of caring individuals who appreciate his strengths and celebrate his achievements. His journey underscores the importance of adaptive support systems and the profound impact of inclusion and social engagement on individuals with special needs. Jared’s story is a beacon of hope, showing that with resilience and a supportive environment, anyone can lead a fulfilling and meaningful life.
