Painting His Own Path: Tim’s Journey of Confidence, Connection, and Creative Success

Tim is the kind of person who lights up a room. He’s friendly, focused, and full of life. But more than anything, Tim is an artist.

For the past 12 years, Tim has poured his heart into his art, especially painting. He creates at the Center for Creative Works (CCW) in Wynnewood, PA — a progressive art studio focused on the development and representation of neurodivergent artists. CCW helps artists gain social capital through professional artistic practice, recognizing the value of sharing the unique human experience through creative expression.

You can find Tim at CCW four days a week, where he’s surrounded by fellow artists and friends. The studio is a space where he thrives — working independently or collaborating on projects, like the ones he’s done with his friend Porsche. Once a week, Tim works in CCW’s supportive employment program. He gets to CCW by bus — completely on his own — a powerful reflection of his independence and confidence.

Tim’s artistic journey has recently reached some exciting milestones. He exhibited and sold his work at the renowned Outsider Art Fair in New York City, a leading showcase for emerging, self-taught artists. Thanks to a connection made through CCW, Tim also joined ArtLifting—a platform that supports artists living with disabilities. Through this partnership, Bank of America selected Tim’s artwork to be displayed in branches across the country. This exposure means people nationwide will be able to connect with and enjoy Tim’s art.

Tim also sells his artwork online, where fans love his use of color, style, and storytelling through art. Some of Tim’s pieces come together in a day; others take weeks or even years. His teacher, Pearl, cherishes Tim’s creativity and joy, saying, “Tim will surprise us with new themes.  Sometimes it’s all lines and then all of a sudden it’s something totally different.”

Behind the scenes, The Arc Alliance has been a consistent support through Tim’s journey. Aisha is Tim’s Supports Coordinator who works closely with Tim and his family to navigate the complex systems that provide his services – always keeping his independence and goals in mind.  The Arc Alliance also connects Tim with programs like CCW and his job coach — a launch pad for his artistic journey.

At The Arc Alliance, we are lucky to empower people like Tim to live full, meaningful lives — on their own terms. That means honoring their passions, advocating for the services they deserve, and creating a structure that supports long-term success and independence. For Tim, that means having the space, the time, and the right supports to pursue his art.

Tim’s story is more than an artistic journey — it’s a celebration of growth, friendship, and the power of possibility. With the right people and resources behind him, Tim is doing more than living life — he’s creating something truly extraordinary.
